Ingredients:

1/3 cup light brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2/3 cup white sugar

1/2 cup butter, softened

2 eggs

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 cup milk

2 apples, peeled and chopped (any kind)

Old-fashioned glaze:

1/2 cup of powdered sugar

2 tablespoons of milk

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl. Set aside.

In another bowl, beat white sugar and butter together until smooth and creamy.

Beat in eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.

Combine flour and baking powder, then add to the creamed mixture and mix well.

Finally, stir in milk until batter is smooth.

Pour half the batter into the prepared pan.

Cover with half of the apples, then half of the brown sugar/cinnamon mixture.

Pour the remaining batter over apple layer and top with remaining apples and brown sugar/cinnamon mixture.

Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.

Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack.

Whisk powdered sugar and milk together to make the glaze; drizzle over cooled bread.

For a unique twist, try swapping the apples with pears or adding chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.

You can also use whole wheat flour or a gluten-free blend to suit dietary preferences.

Enhance the fall flavors by incorporating a pinch of nutmeg or cloves into the cinnamon mixture.

For a richer loaf, substitute the milk with buttermilk or add a dollop of Greek yogurt to the batter.

To ensure even baking, cut the apples into small, uniform pieces and avoid overmixing the batter.

Finally, let the loaf cool completely before glazing to prevent the icing from melting.

To store your Apple Cinnamon Swirl Loaf, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and keep it at room temperature for up to 2 days.
